Selected by the Mother herself, the Promesse community is one of the first lands to be acquired for Auroville. It is also the first and the oldest community in Auroville.

The community needed a compound wall due to its close proximity to the highway (NH 66). As a result, an RCC column wall was made with plinth beam to encompass the 225 m² area. Precast slabs with holes are used to reinforce the wall while facilitating ventilation.
